The permissive attitude toward marijuana use, though it may be exciting to many adults is no laughing manner when it comes to raising children (even though some may find it funny or entertaining after a joint or two).

The rampant abuse of pot among adults and teenagers has begun to filter down and impact a much younger population of children especially in our public schools. In a recent poll of sixth graders in a Los Angeles classroom, 100% of the kids raised their hands when asked if they had tried or knew of a classmate that had tried marijuana.

I find these statistics to be a harsh reflection of our irresponsible attitude toward a morally debasing substance. When I was a sixth grader, that same survey would have yielded a big fat zero per cent. We have gone from zero to 100% of our children exposed in some form or another in a time span of 50 years.

This precedent should being raising the hackles of all parents. These alarming statistics is what prompted me to write my recently published Modern Day Children’s Fable, How the Snake Got Its Tail. This beautifully illustrated book delivers a very powerful message in an entertaining and explicit manner that all kids will enjoy and relate to.

If you want a compassionate tale to help reinforce your child’s inherent common sense about drug use, this book is for you. Click, visit and buy now: http://amzn.to/1S2iY6m

  1. Captain Jill, you are sailing the ship off course. This post was about the exposure to and use of marijuana by children. You are speaking in broad generalities which I certainly could argue against, but that was not the purpose of this post. My question to you would be; do you think children should be smoking marijuana?

    wow!
morally debasing substance? unbelievable! your attitude towards one of the safest substances on the planet is suspect. I’d like to know where you get your information since it’s for sure not accurate

well, your experience is in direct opposition to mine, everyone I know and all the experts. Marijuana has NEVER killed ANYONE in the history of the world. It is not something that should be illegal. It is one of the most useful plants on this planet. So, no, it is not accurate at all.
