Out Of The Night

I see hope out there
on the horizon
where our shady past has folded its tent
and surrenders to the future.

Like pure reason, this gesture has a specific gravity,
something solid and tangible
as a smile. It is here
in this sacred concept
that so many things flourish and truly belong
and others that just plain shouldn’t be—
like sirens shrieking and red lights flashing, rioters
flinging curses and firebombs
from the deepest dark of our human rights.

Snowbound

If I had a memory, I ‘d conjure up a soothing froth around my feet. I’d picture a beach of scampering crabs and sandpipers peeping. I’d have my surf fishing pole, my sunglasses and drink with an umbrella to pick the seaweed out of my teeth. Never been there, but it’s nice just the same.

The turkeys have found our tree. There was a partridge last year but he is too late to the feast this time around. The gobblers are neither shy nor subtle, they leave little in their wake but broken twigs and excrement. The thousands of little red apples are history. At least I won’t have to trim the tree next summer, they did a pretty fair job.

Bodies of Water

I am fortunate and blessed to be surrounded by bodies of water. That is what we are pretty much composed of physically. Michigan is a water wonderland with all her fresh water streams, rivers and lakes. The Great Lakes surround us. No place on Earth like it. I hate to think, that without water we would have to exist as rocks.

Bigfoot is not complicated. They are not scary nor prone to senseless violence unless you are. Thus, they are a viable mirror of intentions. When it comes to finding Bigfoot, you’ll get what you put into it.

Thanks for reading Off The Beaten Path, Conversations With TV shows are just that, TV shows. They are created to entertain, injected with drama and suspense through the use of camera tricks, sound effects and acting of a sort. These programs are all a mirage and will never accomplish the task of actually finding Bigfoot. Bigfoot just so happens to be a good subject for TV ratings.

Bigfoot in reality, is nothing like a big scary boogeyman that hunkers around leaving footprints and scat for researchers to analyze. He doesn’t strip the bark off huge trees or make crude nests out of sticks and stones. He doesn’t live in a cave. He’s much, much more than that. He’s a timeless traveler, a spiritual guide, a portal to higher dimensions and realities that exist behind the human mind’s barely cracked doors.

Open them a little further and you just might…
