One Cell

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA photo by Mary Rensberry

The war rages
in need of more
soldiers.  Ages
have past since
I have met myself
on the battlefield
with a rifle or an ax,
with bows and arrows,
club or stone.

Is it suicide
if I die at the hands
of a cellular clone?

Is it murder
if you defend yourself
from the prick you were?  Is it
a galactic crime
when they haul you away
one cell at a time?

    compelling thoughts.

    i rocked the prick
    for years and
    years…
    until the joy
    of rocking
    stilled her
    convulsions
    to coos.
