Prejudice

IMG_2463

They come
uninvited
with their woofers buzzing
sitting low in their seats
and smoking reefer
that entered the country
illegally.

It is not that my heart
is boarded up
like neighborhood storefronts
where homeless sleep, it bleeds
with a city
boisterously slipping
into lawlessness.

Lawyers and judges all
hop in-
to Mercedes and escape
to guarded gate communities
where they sip
chardonnay. Here
we wait for the bus
where air reeks of skunk
and urine.

It is not that my heart
is boarded up, it’s the pilfering lack
of common sense
and permissiveness of prejudice
against us.

Good character and morals is what’s needed…we all have free will to do and help or to hinder ourselves and others. Thanks for the post.
