A Softer Way of Life
We chose
loam over concrete.
Cement demands
buildings and governments,
arguments and reporters
from the New York Times.
Soil sprouts ears
of corn that listen,
tomatoes that kiss
and voices that whisper
the secrets of living.
Sunflowers raise
their heads to the sun- a monarch drinks from a thistle.

Yes, there is an aliveness and a softness here to savor!
