All spooks and all witches have conjured kid’s bewares
retrieved their wands and broomsticks to raise your hackle’s hairs.
Skulls have bleached their eye teeth; bats have screeched their screams;
bones have loosed their rattle in the playground of your dreams.
The ghosts have wooed their boo, the devil has forked his tail;
the ghouls have donned their stink for the trick or treat regale.
Do Zombies bring a costume? Which costumes wear a mask?
Is that howl from the graveyard? What’s in the vampire’s flask?
Are closets full of skeletons? Are goblins filled with flies?
Is your brother or your sister a wolf in sheep’s disguise?
This wonderful poem brought back some lovely memories of trick-or-treating and the anticipation of a spooky Halloween night!

I had eight brothers and sisters, you can just imagine what went on in the dark.
